Q&A With Epi Ludvik Nekaj, Founder & CEO of Crowdsourcing WeekBy Adam Karides
We are just two weeks away from the Crowdsourcing Week Seattle Summit! On October 5th, learn about trending topics such as collective intelligence (AI + HI), microtasking, crowdsourcing in machine learning and the gaming industry, the latest developments in crowdsourced innovation, crowdfunding, and the blockchain-enabled economy. To gear up for this action-packed day, I had the opportunity to discuss the second wave of the crowd economy and preview CSW Seattle with Founder & CEO, Epi Ludvik Nekaj.
What makes Seattle an appealing destination for this second CSW North American Summit?
Since we are planning our CSW Global 2018 conference, we thought we should do two small Summits in the East and West Coast. There are lots of things happening in Seattle in terms of Deep Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence and we thought this Summit will give us an opportunity to build on this ecosystem.
After a successful inaugural CSW North American Summit in Washington, D.C. In June, how do you compare crowdsourcing in the United States to other global CSW destinations?
The U.S. market is definitely advanced when it comes to crowdsourcing across all industries, including government agencies. There are many crowd-based companies that are from the U.S., including corporations who are accelerating innovation with crowdsourcing. Early in June we wrote about ‘Benefits of effective crowdsourcing shown by 10 top US projects’ and you can see clearly the maturity and commitment these companies have in this space.
What has changed in the crowdsourcing landscape since the June event in Washington, D.C.?
Every organization we've been speaking with for our CSW Global 2018 is very much on board and excited. I was surprised that most of these companies are planning or even working on crowdsourcing initiatives. That to me is massive.
How would you like CSW Seattle to be different from the Washington, D.C. Summit?
Maybe this time around focus more on the engineering and research side. We have Ece Kamar from Microsoft talking about ‘Humans to the Rescue: Troubleshooting AI Systems with Human-in-the-loop’ and James Lee discussing ‘Crowdsourced Local Intelligence to Build Truly Differentiating Rider Experience’ and much more.
What do you hope stays the same?
Enthusiasm around crowdsourcing as a way for organizations to be transformed, innovate and be transparent and not as a form to look for cheaper labor.
